“Without a doubt, technology and thought leadership are the driving forces of change for public accounting practices across the country,” says Executive Editor Darren Root, a practicing CPA based in Bloomington, Indiana. “This Symposium will bring together the greatest influencers in adopting the technologies needed to advance the profession in the years to come.”

Topics to be discussed range in scope from strategic planning, technology, risk management, performance, micro-computing accounting systems, profitability, organizational growth, emerging technologies, public accounting trends, start-up tips, social media outreach, tax, audit, client services, green accounting, accreditations, measurement, software solutions, and workflow.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary as a leader in the profession, The CPA Technology Advisor will name two inductees into the inaugural The CPA Technology Advisor’s Accounting Hall of Fame, an honor designed to recognize the ground-breaking achievements of two individuals who continue to influence and leave a mark on the profession.

“We thought it was time to formally honor and recognize the people who are really thinking ahead of the curve,” says Ben Johnson, Publisher of The CPA Technology Advisor. “This group will also learn a lot from interacting with each other in a private, one-on-one setting.”

  1. Congrats Rick on making the list! A well deserved honor!

  2. Gotta be honest — at least one of those folks I haven’t seen in forever. Good to know they’re still alive and thought leading.

I find it interesting that they only picked 3 woman as thought leaders. Something seems wrong here.

I think it is pretty interesting that some of the best thought leaders in the industry aren’t even mentioned. Once again, it’s all about who you like, not who is best. Politics as usual.

It’s great that the set of topics in this forum has a wide latitude. I think it is really high time to discuss issues on social media outreach because of the upsurge of the use of social media in business and green accounting because businesses should be made more aware of the environmental impact of their operations. Just my thoughts…
