2008 Busy Season Stress-O-Meter Update
Busy Season 2008 appears to be running like clockwork.
Compared to last year with about 30 days to go before April 15 Tax Day, all major gauges are running better this year than last year:
- Stress levels are lower, with about 21% of professionals reporting the worst bouts of anxiety, compared with 31% last year.
- Overall business operations are running better. Specifically, 36% are reporting year-over-year improvement, compared with 29% at about the same time last year.
Key operational readouts are also improved:
- Total revenue — 70% report gains this year, compared with 63% at the same time last year.
- Net profit — Up at 62% of firms, compared with 58% last year.
