Intuit and Google’s New Initiatives

Over the years, Intuit has become a model for how to succeed in the small business (SB) market. In fiscal year 2006, revenues for QuickBooks, Intuit’s flagship SB accounting solution, rose by 14%, accounting for $861.7 million of the vendor’s $2.3 billion total revenues. The vendor added almost 600,000 new QuickBooks users, growing its active user base to more than 3.7 million. Using the QuickBooks installed base as a springboard, Intuit has also created a very successful SB payroll business, with a customer base of more than 972,000 payees, and more than $337 million in revenues. In addition, many of Intuit’s 3 million Quicken users are small businesses.
