CPA Trendlines presents The Disruptors.

Liz Farr, Host, The Disruptors, CPA Trendlines

Now I want you to pull out your best forecasting software and tell me: Where do yoau see the accounting profession in 10 years?

David Marquis, CEO, Caseware

In 10 years, the accounting profession is going to be more valuable, not less. The work that AI simply can’t do — professional judgment, ethical reasoning, client trust — is going to be more important, not less.

Kenji Kuramoto, Managing partner in residence, Basis

If it keeps going like it is today, I’m incredibly excited about it because it’s the most dynamic I’ve ever seen the profession. And I think what is available for accountants to do these days is just vast.

Karen Reyburn, CPA, Owner, We are PF, a marketing agency for accountants

And the one thing I have seen that’s stayed the same is that accountants are still needed. It’s the advice and the support and the humanity of the accountants that is appreciated and that lasts.

Nick Boscia, CPA, EA, Managing partner, Boscia & Boscia PC

A lot of the stuff we do is going to get automated, like a lot of the compliance piece of accounting — the bookkeeping, the data entry. I think that’s going to be automated to some extent, if not completely, in 10 years. But I think what’s going to be the most important part is being the trusted advisor.

Logan Graf, CPA, Owner, The Graf Tax Co. PLLC

We’re still going to be around because AI has been here since, what, 2022, 2021? I think our capacity is going to be crazy. What we can leverage with technology is going to be crazy if AI continues the way it’s going to. I just think it’s going to be way more relational with clients.
