We surveyed more than 1000 tax and accounting professionals last fall, and interviewed hundreds more. Nearly 30% planned to use social media during 2010. As more of the societies and associations get involved, that number will increase.

Social media and networking are great ways for practitioners to develop relationships as part of an overall practice development strategy. This will help engage more people in dialogue and develop rapport. They key will be to take the dialogue offline at the appropriate time. At that point, they will take them through their normal business development process and social media will help them stay connected as part of their client relationship management process.

These are exciting times for firms of the future. People like Michelle are helping usher in the necessary changes.

Aww, thanks Mitch! And thank you for sharing this timeline and book news, Rick!

Just want to mention.. the book is being published by John Wiley & Sons, not AICPA.

HOWEVER, the AICPA’s PCPS Section has a “FREE for members” Social Media Toolkit coming out VERY SOON that I was honored to have authored for them. I believe it will be available in May or June, at the latest.

    Thanks again!!

Michelle Golden contines to be an excellent resource for professional service organizations who are trying to understand how to leverage social media to meet strategic goals. Michelle does a solid job of taking what may seem complicated to some and showing firms how to use social media tools profitably.
