SurePrep is rolling out a tax preparation workflow system that it says could cut the time required to prepare returns by 35% to 50%. And, they note, “without outsourcing a single return.”
Originally developed by SurePrep to automate its own tax processing operations, SurePrep Express might help accounting firms double the volume of returns they prepare without increasing professional staff and without sacrificing quality or control, the company says.
Here’s how it works…
SurePrep Express is a web-based system that categorizes source documents as ?Standard?, if they have common line or box numbers (e.g., W-2, 1099, etc.), or ?Complex?, if they do not. Standard source documents are quickly identified by tax preparers and instantly routed to data entry operators who simply match box or line numbers on the source document to those on the input form. Complex source documents are tagged by tax preparers with a unique point and click referencing system and then sent to data entry operators who enter the amounts adjacent to the references. Once entered, the data can be automatically transferred to several popular tax packages. This process enables firms to transfer work traditionally done by tax professionals to seasonal data entry staff with little to no training making the task of finding temporary help during busy season infinitely easier and less expensive. And because SurePrep Express sends all source documents for dual data entry, accuracy is improved and review time reduced, leading to further increases in professional productivity.
Because SurePrep Express is web-based, there is no need for data entry staff to be physically co-located with professionals. This enables several usage options. First, firms can hire in-house data entry staff to work on-site, from home, or from any other location. Alternatively, firms can use SurePrep?s data entry service and eliminate the need to hire, manage and equip seasonal data entry staff. And SurePrep offers both offshore and U.S. based data entry services to meet the preferences of any firm.
