Mahoney Cohen Names Six New Partners

Mahoney Cohen CPAs in New York has named Mark Bednarz, John J. Cronin, Mitchell Plattman, Cindy E. Rosenberg, Erika J. Rothheim and Carol Surowiec as shareholders, bringing the number of partners to 34. The firm ranks about 42nd among the top 100, with 285 staffers in offices in New York City, Miami, Boca Raton and Houston. Mahoney Cohen is a member of Moore Stephens International Limited.

Details on the new shareholders:

Mark Bednarz, CPA, CISA, is a shareholder in the firm’s audit practice. He has 14 years of experience in auditing, accounting, business reengineering and Oracle 11i implementation to publicly and privately- held companies in the retail, public relations, telecommunication and utility industries. Prior to Mahoney Cohen, Mark worked for AT&T, and also for “Big Four” firms, Fortune 100 Companies, and technology companies. Mark has a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is in the process of completing his Masters in Information Systems at Stevens Institute of Technology.

John J. Cronin, CPA, is a shareholder in the Public Company Services Group. John has 16 years of experience in auditing and accounting, as well as providing consulting services to companies in the manufacturing, retail, technology, service and medical device industries. His areas of specialization include SEC services for existing publicly held companies as well as larger middle market private companies. He is a graduate of Providence College with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Mitchell Plattman, CPA, is a shareholder in the firm’s audit practice. Mitch has over 20 years of experience in both accounting and auditing as well as in providing business advisory and consulting services to clients in industries as diverse as apparel and textile, retailers, importers and manufacturers. He has extensive experience performing due diligence examinations for potential acquisitions and bank financing. Mitch graduated with honors from the University of Hartford where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

Cindy E. Rosenberg, CPA, is a shareholder in the firm’s audit practice with more than 12 years of auditing and accounting experience serving both publicly and privately-held companies. She has served clients in a range of industries including apparel and textile, retail, manufacturing, distributors, importers and service organizations. In addition, she has broad experience working with ERISA matters. Cindy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Emory University, with a concentration in accounting.

Erika J. Rotheim, CPA, is a shareholder in the firm’s audit practice, with 22 years of business and professional experience. She provides accounting services to middle market clients in diverse industries including retail, wholesale, distribution, apparel and textile, accessories, jewelry, non-profit organizations and other service industries. Erika earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, with a concentration in accounting and finance.

Carol Surowiec, CPA, is a shareholder in the firm’s Miami tax practice with 20 years of public accounting experience in both national and local accounting firms. Carol has extensive experience in Federal and State taxation matters and has served a wide range of clients, from individual entrepreneurs to multinational companies, both publicly-traded and closely-held. Prior to joining Mahoney Cohen, Carol served as a tax manager at a Miami accounting firm and at Grant Thornton. Carol is a member of the Women’s Committee of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Miami. She has also been involved with several charities including Hands on Miami and Adopt-A-Classroom. Carol graduated from Florida State University.
