Here are a few of your post-tax-season plans…

  • Day off
  • consume a large amount of alcohol. go to the beach. consume more alcohol.
  • Flying to Florida to find the sun.
  • Sleep! and Exercise!
  • Taking kids to baseball games & Biking Shenandoah.
  • Three days off; back to office for upcoming trials in litigation support matters.
  • I’ll let you know in July when it’s over.

  • Loading up the minivan and heading west.
  • Like last year when I finished at 4:00 on Friday before the 17th, I plan to go home, spend the weekend relaxing, and come to work to greet those who have not yet picked up their returns. All returns will be ready for pickup or on extension before I leave Friday the 11th. No more than a dozen extensions. Why retire at 63 when it is this much fun.
  • A happy hour for the team late afternoon on 4/15, and a cross country train trip with my son starting on 4/16. My wife will treat the team to lunch at one of our clients while I am gone as a sign that she appreciates what they do for me during season, too. And then, finally, i’ll probably spend a day or two continuing the restoration of my 1960 Buick LeSabre.
  • dinner with the team on Saturday including families
  • Party at Hard Times. Then go to San Francisco.
  • I don’t usually celebrate. I have a Ministry Team Council meeting at church at 7:30PM on 4-15-08 that I hope to attend.
  • We close April the 16th. we have done this for 40 years. It’s a paid holiday.

Work hard for another week, then the next Friday night it will be time to fire up the BBQ and invite staff and spouses to the house for a good old fashioned Southern BBQ and homeade ice cream meal. Then, this is our year for peer review, so….
