Mike Mares hospitalized

Michael E. Mares, CPA/ABV, J.D.
Mares

Mike Mares, CPA/ABV J.D., of Witt Mares CPAs, Newport News, Va., and long a leader of the profession has been hospitalized with an inoperable brain tumor.

He is most widely known for expertise in taxation. But friends and colleagues know him, as well, as a model of integrity, character and intelligence. Personally, I’m grateful to him for his generosity and patience in answering even my lamest questions.

One Response to “Mike Mares hospitalized”

    Rick,

Thanks for this update. Mike is one of those truly remarkable CPAs (and lawyers) who has left his mark on our Profession and on all he came in contact with. Mike is one of those people who brought sunshine wherever he goes.

I had the pleasure of working with Mike when he was at Witt, Mares and as an instructor in his “post-retirement”. I will always remember Mike leading us through a pub crawl in Key West at a CPE meeting. He had us in stiches with his amazing sense of humor and quick wit.

Hang in there Mike, our thoughts and prayers are with you & Terri,

    Tom
